SISTERS RODEO PARADE – 2025 PARADE RULES

General Rules

  1. Any entrant who violates these rules may, as applicable, be denied the right to participate in and immediately removed from the parade route, and may be banned from future parades.
  2. Every entrant must sign a PARTICIPANT EXPRESS ASSUMPTION OF RISK / INDEMNIFICATION / WAIVER OF CLAIMS / RELEASE OF LIABILITY. Any entrant who has not provided an original signed PARTICIPANT EXPRESS ASSUMPTION OF RISK / INDEMNIFICATION / WAIVER OF CLAIMS / RELEASE OF LIABILITY will be denied entry to the parade.
  3. The Sisters Rodeo Association reserves the general right to remove any entrant from the parade at any time.  Without limitation of its general right of removal, the Sisters Rodeo Association specifically reserves the right, in its sole discretion and without any requirement to disclose or assign reason for its decision, to deny participation in or remove from the parade any exhibit, person, animal, wagon, vehicle, or signage that may be deemed unsuitable or objectionable, or which was falsely entered.
  4. Throwing of any items during the parade is prohibited. (e.g., no candy or other items are allowed to be tossed). If you have something you wish to share with parade spectators, it must be handed out by entrants who are walking alongside your float or vehicle.
  5. All entrants must display their entry numbers at all times during the parade. Entry numbers are provided to participants during the check-in process.
  6. Participants are prohibited from slowing or stopping the forward progress of the parade (e.g., no stopping to perform during the parade) and must follow the instructions of the parade marshal(s) at all times.
  7. All motorized vehicles, and any trailer being towed by a motorized vehicle, must be insured and operated by a licensed and insured driver. Proof of license and insurance must be provided to Sisters Rodeo Association immediately on request.
  8. Any firearms carried in the parade are subject to all applicable state and federal laws. No firearms may be fired at any time during the parade.
  9. Alcoholic beverages are prohibited during the parade and in the parade staging areas.
  10. All children 12 years old and younger participating in the parade must be accompanied by an adult. All participants under the age of 18 years old must have a PARTICIPANT EXPRESS ASSMPTION OF RISK / INDEMNIFICATION / WAIVER OF CLAIMS / RELEASE OF LIABILITY AGREEMENT signed on behalf of such child by the child’s parent or legal guardian who is at least 18 years old.

Horse (and other Equine) Rules

  1. All horses (and other equines) must be ridden by competent riders and be under control at all times. Any rider or animal that may pose a danger, in the sole discretion of the Sisters Rodeo Association, may be immediately removed from the parade. Persons responsible for horses (and other equines) must follow the instructions of parade marshal(s) at all times.
  2. All riders must ride a safe distance from the crowd and never within reach of a spectator at any time.
  3. Humane treatment of animals must be exercised at all times by all participants. Any inhumane treatment will be reported to the appropriate governmental body or governing association.
  4. The Sisters Rodeo Association reserves the right to refuse unloading privileges and to remove, or require the removal of, any animal from the parade or parade staging area that has a disease or undesirable ailment as determined in the sole discretion of a Sisters Rodeo Association contracted veterinarian or the Oregon Department of Agriculture.

 

PARTICIPANT EXPRESS ASSUMPTION OF RISK/INDEMNIFICATION/WAIVER OF CLAIMS / RELEASE OF LIABILITY AGREEMENT

In consideration of being permitted to participate, in any way, in the 2025 Sisters Rodeo Parade (the “Parade”), the undersigned named below agree:

  1. I have read, understand, and agree to abide by the Sisters Rodeo Parade 2025 Parade Rules (the “Rules”), which Rules are incorporated herein by this reference, including, without limitation, the provisions related to the full release and waiver of liability of the Sisters Rodeo Association, its officers, directors, employees, volunteers, contractors, designees, and agents (collectively referred to as “Sisters Rodeo”) and the City of Sisters.
  2. I grant permission to Sisters Rodeo to use my image and likeness in connection with any broadcast, publication, or reproduction of the Parade, in any way or medium whatsoever now existing or hereafter created.
  3. I fully understand and acknowledge that:
  4. There are risks and dangers associated with participating in the Parade, which could result in bodily injury, partial or total disability, paralysis, and death. The risks and dangers include, for example only and without limitation, the risk of death, physical injury, property damage, physical exertion and health conditions, and adverse animal interactions.
  5. The social and economic losses and damages that could result from these risks and dangers could be severe.
  6. These risks and dangers may be caused by or result from the action, inaction, or negligence of the undersigned participant(s) or the action, inaction, or negligence of others, including, but not limited to, Sisters Rodeo and the City of Sisters.
  7. There may be other risks and dangers not known or which may not be reasonably foreseeable at this time.
  8. I accept and assume all such risks and dangers. I further accept and assume full responsibility for any losses and damages that result or arise from any injury, disability, paralysis, death, property damage, or any other claim or loss, however, caused, including if caused in whole or in part by the actions, inactions, or negligence of Sisters Rodeo or the City of Sisters. I further acknowledge, understand, and agree that I am solely responsible for any consequential damages and other losses, injuries, and damages occasioned by or arising from any horse or other livestock, vehicle, or float used by me at the Parade, including, without limitation, during the preparation, duration, and disbanding of the Parade and any parts thereof.
  9. To the fullest extent permitted by law, I agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Sisters Rodeo and the City of Sisters, and their respective agents, affiliates, employees, managers, officers, designees, agents, contractors, heirs, and assigns (hereinafter, collectively, the “Indemnified Parties”) from and against any claims, injuries, damages, costs, expenses, awards, fines, judgments, and liabilities of any nature whatsoever, including attorneys’ fees (including, without limitation, expert witness fees and other litigation expenses), arising out of or in connection with either or both of the following: (a) my participation in the Parade, and (b) the participation of any person participating in the Parade on my behalf or at my invitation.
  10. I, for myself, my heirs, next of kin, executors, personal representatives, and assigns, do hereby release, waive, and discharge the Indemnified Parties from, and covenant not to sue any of the Indemnified Parties for, any claims, demands, losses, or damages, including from the negligence of any of the Indemnified Parties, resulting in personal injury, accidents, illnesses (including death), property loss, economic loss, emotional distress, psychiatric injury, pain or suffering of any kind, attorneys’ fees, and damages that may at any time arise from or relate in any way to my participation in the Parade, including, without limitation, traveling to and from the Parade.
  11. I further expressly agree that the foregoing terms of this Participant Express Assumption of Risk / Indemnification / Waiver of Claims / Release of Liability Agreement (the “Agreement”) are intended to be as broad and inclusive as is permitted by the laws of the State of Oregon and that if any portion of this Agreement is held invalid, I agree that the balance of this Agreement will, notwithstanding, continue in full legal force and effect.
  12. By signing this Agreement, I represent that I am at least 18 years old, and I have the authority to sign on behalf of myself and/or on behalf of my minor child, if/as identified below.

I HAVE READ THIS AGREEMENT.

I FULLY UNDERSTAND THE TERMS OF THIS AGREEMENT, UNDERSTAND THAT I HAVE GIVEN UP SUBSTANTIAL RIGHTS BY SIGNING IT, AND HAVE SIGNED IT FREELY AND VOLUNTARILY WITHOUT ANY INDUCEMENT, ASSURANCE, OR GUARANTEE BEING MADE TO ME.
